Triveni Sangam – the central point of three holy rivers of India

The great point of meeting holy rivers is called as the Triveni Sangam flowing in Allahabad, which is also known as Prayaga earlier. Triveni Sangam comprises of Ganga, Yamuna and Saraswati rivers. Saraswati river flows underneath and is very calm and invisible. The water of river Ganga is white in color and blue is the river Yamuna. River Ganga is 4 feet deep and river Yamuna is at 40 feet at the meeting point.

This is the place where nectar drops fell down from the hands of the God. During the monsoon, the water in this river flows fast and with full force. This is the sacred place where kumbh mela is held for every 12 years.

Many people take boats for a holy dip in this river. The two beliefs in the people are that all the gods also dip in this sangam and remove the sins of humans when taken a dip in this water. And another is one gains moksha to reach heaven.

This is an amazing and cherishing experience of boat riding in sangam with the birds migrating on the banks of the river. This gives us a wonderful feeling where words are not enough.

How to reach
