Mellacheruvu is a popular village in Nalgonda district of Telangana State which showcases many glimpses of the Kakatiya dynasty. The village is famous for the Swayambhu Sambhulingeswara Swami temple which has Shiva linga with a hole in it. The hole is filled with water in all the seasons. It is therefore also known as DakshinKashi (Varanasi of South).




Ways of reaching Mellachervu
The place is situated at a distance of 9.6 km from Huzur Nagar and the nearest railway station from Mellachervu is Khammam railway station which is located at 67 kilometres. This village is also connected to the important commercial city of Vijayawada through the Canal Way. The ideal time to visit the village is winter season, which falls during the month of December to February.
