Dhulikatta is a village located in the Eligaid Mandal in the Karimnagar District in Telangana. The village is famous for its historic, cultural heritage because of its Buddhist stupa and Vihara. The village offers a glimpse of the Buddhist glory and provides a great opportunity to witness some of the historical monuments which were built way back in the past. The village reflects the glory of the Buddhist culture and you will be amazed to see such a brilliance of architecture.






Know the history of the stupa
The stupa in the village is also known as Buddhist Mahastupa, this stupa along with vihara was built at the end of the 2nd Century BC. During that period the area was considered to be as a very part and had a great significance thus it was protected with several fortifications.

The remains and ruins of the stupa are located on an elevated place which makes it still visible. Buddhist tourists from all around the globe visit this place to witness this land. The stupa is composed of limestone and in these limestones Buddhist symbols are elegantly carved. The village is also the home for the famous three day Satavahana festival, which is held every year in January.
